П™‚ I did a very unscientific test of all of these encoders about this time last year or perhaps a bit before. I make no claim as to the validity of the results, except that I used the encoders in their default states, pretty much as a new user might use them - without tweaking the settings beyond setting up the basic parameters. Compressor (v1) resulted in a milky look to the material. The resolution was to alter the gamma setting a notch. Compressor (v2) performed much better in this respect, but there are artefacts and I am not convinced about the colour.

The range of sampling dimensions are more limited as well. MPEG adds adaptive quantization at the macroblock (16 x 16 pixel area) layer.

Does anyone know why? What are the requirements to use.

This encoder analysis is a process known as motion estimation. Using the superior compression of GOP structures, therefore, the same second in MPEG might be represented like this: ([I BB P BB P BB P BB P BB] [I BB P BB P BB P BB P BB]) It consists of two GOPs. Both of the examples contain 30 frames, but the MPEG file will be significantly smaller due to the use of P and B frames. 10 The Encoder will automatically load a set of default parameters that are displayed in the Main Window, such as Frame Rate, Video Stream data rate, Frame Size, etc. This is the information that will control the encoding process and determine the characteristics of the output file we ll generate. Together, this information is known as a Profile.

Bitvice performed well, but the colour became lighter (very slight) and without a reference image it would be difficult to tell. Bitvice was also quite a lot slower for some reason. Wired card got excellent results repeatedly, real time from a camera fed directly in to it, and about 4:1 when using a QT file from the hard drive. Picture result is sharp and colour pretty good too.

The LSX-MPEG Encoder is optimized to achieve very fast encoding for most standard frame sizes and frame rates of video required in multimedia applications. Advantages: LSX-MPEG Encoder utilizes Intel MMXTM technology for maximum MPEG encoding speeds.

• I have exported a movie from Final Cut Pro X in 16:9 and when I open it in iDVD (also in 16:9 mode) it shows up as a 4:3 video. • Hi, I'm trying to export to compressor from Final cut pro, but every time i do so, I keep getting the same error message 'Selection contains no media' but it does.

All in all I couldn't fault the output, but the interface can be a bit confusing - in the early version of the OSX software the layout of the controls wasn't as intuitive as it could have been although I know the interface is much clearer nowadays. As for Procoder it produced crystal clear results repeatedly, with very few artefacts (using MiniDV material). By default it sets up a CBR encode and to provide some comparison I changed it to VBR.

Etc, etc, etc. Unless the file will only be played on your own platform, what you do not want to do is use an FCP only compression format which would limit viewers to those recipients have the same FCP codecs installed. • Can files be exported from Final Cut Pro X trial?
